On March 12th and 13th, the residents of Piaseczno will have two new railway connections with Warsaw at their disposal. The fast City Railway (Szybka Kolej Miejska, SKM) will launch two lines – S4 and S40, which will run every half an hour. Travelers will be able to use ZTM tickets and the Warsaw City Card. The S4 line will be opened on March 12th and will take passengers to the center of Warsaw and further to Wieliszew, and a day later the S40 line will be launched, which will take passengers to the Warszawa Główna station.
The timetables of both lines will complement each other on weekdays, which means that the SKM trains from Piaseczno to Warsaw will depart twice an hour, i.e. approximately every half an hour – alternating S4 and S40. S40 trains will reach the Warszawa Główna station, i.e. Zawiszy Square, where the routes of many bus and tram lines intersect. However, S4 trains on the northern section of the route will be connected not only with buses and trams (Warszawa Wola, Koło, Zoo, Toruńska stations), but also with the underground – the M2 metro line at the Warszawa Młynów station and M1 at the Dworzec Gdański station.
The new SKM connections are a great convenience for the residents of the Bliskie Piaseczno estate, who will soon be able to reach Warszawa Główna in just 35 minutes. Owing to the new connections, residents of the Close Piaseczno estate have easier access to workplaces, shopping centers, universities and other places in Warsaw. They can replace their car or bus with a train, which is especially beneficial during rush hours when traffic is heavy. Moreover, the new Fast Urban Railway connections are more ecological than driving, which has a positive impact on the environment. The introduction of these connections is also important from the point of view of the development of public transport in Poland, because it encourages the use of public transport.
